Kherlen Bars City is an archaeological site located in eastern Mongolia, once a major fortified city during the time of the Khitan Liao Dynasty (10th–12th century). The name "Bars" refers to a "tiger," symbolizing strength, and the city itself was a strategic stronghold guarding the Kherlen River valley.
The ruins include remnants of walls, towers, and earthen ramparts, giving insight into ancient Khitan urban planning and military architecture. Though mostly in ruins today, it remains an important cultural and historical landmark for Mongolia’s eastern region.
