“Eej Mod”, meaning “Mother Tree”, is one of Mongolia’s most revered spiritual landmarks. Located in Selenge province along a major northern route, the tree is believed to be inhabited by a female spirit that protects travelers. It is customary to stop here, tie a sacred scarf (khadag), and make wishes or offer prayers.
