Today we will visit the most important Monastery of Orkhon Valley.
Tuvkhun Monastery Hermitage was founded by Ondor Gegeen Zanabazar in 1648 on his 19th birthday. The temple complex is built on two mountain platforms. The lower one has several temples, including a small wooden temple, a footprint attributed to the 1st Bogd Gegeen, and a tiny cave where Zanabazar meditated.
Further up the mountain, there is a second platform with a spring and a cave called Ekhiin Khevlii, or "Mother's Womb," where pilgrims crawl inside to be reborn. At the top is an Ovoo and a flat rock called "The Place of Naadam," where Zanabazar created some famous sculptures.
Mongolians believe that entering the "Mother's Womb" hole cleanses bad energy and rejuvenates.
In the evening, our generous host will prepare a traditional Mongolian dish for us called "Mongolian barbecue made by grilled stone." This unique culinary experience involves grilling meat and vegetables on hot stones, creating a delicious and flavorful meal.
