In the morning, we meet our local horse guides who share essential advice on handling Mongolian horses. Paying close attention to their instructions ensures a safe and enjoyable ride. The herders then select the horses that will accompany us for the next nine days.
We begin our ride along the Orkhon River in the UNESCO-listed Orkhon Valley, a living landscape of nomadic traditions where herders establish their summer camps. The journey offers sweeping views of the open steppe and river scenery.
By evening, we reach the riverbank and set up camp . It is a time to relax and unwind after a full day on horseback, choosing a safe and comfortable spot near water and natural shelter.

The second day of horse riding begins as we continue along the Orkhon Valley with our nomadic companions, following the course of the river. The steppe stretches in every direction, covered in green and golden grass beneath the wide Mongolian sky. A light breeze carries the scent of wildflowers, making the ride pleasant and refreshing. In the evening, we once again choose the best spot by the river to set up our camp.

Once we have refueled, we will embark on a thrilling adventure of climbing the mountain on horseback. This unique experience will allow us to soak in the breathtaking scenery while enjoying the excitement of horseback riding.
Overall, it promises to be an action-packed day, combining the thrill of galloping and the adventure of horseback climbing. We will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in nature and discover the cultural heritage of the Tovkhon Monastery.
Tuvkhun Hermitage was founded by Ondor Gegeen Zanabazar in 1648 on his 19th birthday. The temple complex is built on two mountain platforms. The lower one has several temples, including a small wooden temple, a footprint attributed to the 1st Bogd Gegeen, and a tiny cave where Zanabazar meditated.
Further up the mountain, there is a second platform with a spring and a cave called Ekhiin Khevlii, or "Mother's Womb," where pilgrims crawl inside to be reborn. At the top is an Ovoo and a flat rock called "The Place of Naadam," where Zanabazar created some famous sculptures.
Mongolians believe that entering the "Mother's Womb" hole cleanses bad energy and rejuvenates.

Today, we will be staying with a nomadic family in the Orkhon Valley. Our hosts will welcome us into their traditional guest ger, providing us with a comfortable place to sleep. This unique experience will allow us to learn about the nomadic lifestyle and create unforgettable memories.
We will learn about their culture, traditions, and way of life. We will help them with daily chores such as milking cows, making traditional dairy products, and gathering firewood. We will also be able to ride horses and explore the beautiful landscape. This experience will give us a unique insight into the nomadic way of life and allow us to appreciate the simplicity and beauty of living close to nature.
We will proceed with taking our horses towards Naiman Nuur National Park - "8 lakes". Our journey will involve riding until we reach the foot of the mountain, where a horse trail will guide us to Naiman nuur Park. Along the way, we will have the chance to cross the rivers and enjoy several opportunities for galloping.
As the evening approaches, we can look forward to the arrival of our Naiman Nuur herders. They will descend from the mountain with their pack yaks, joining us for the night. This will provide a unique opportunity to interact with the herders, learn about their way of life, and experience the presence of the pack yaks.
On the way, we will visit the famous Orkhon Waterfall, which stands at a height of 24 meters. This magnificent waterfall is a sight to behold, with its cascading waters and stunning natural beauty.
After breakfast, our journey to Naiman Nuur Park will begin. The luggage will be loaded onto the backs of pack yaks, who will accompany us throughout our expedition. The horses will showcase their incredible strength and endurance as we navigate the untamed and high-altitude terrain. It's important to remember that there are no established roads for cars to reach our destination.
The driver will not be able to go to Naiman Nuur. We will meet the driver in two days.
Our first challenge awaits us as we venture into a vast forest. Here, we will be enveloped by the breathtaking beauty of nature and serenaded by the melodies of wildlife. As we press on, we will encounter an area adorned with volcanic stones, adding a distinctive and rugged touch to our expedition. The landscape will then transform into a marshland, offering a contrasting backdrop and the possibility of spotting intriguing wildlife along the way.
We will spend a one more day Naiman Nuur National Park to explore its largest and most stunning lake, Shireet. This lake offers a tranquil atmosphere where we can truly appreciate the beauty of the park. It's worth noting that the park is sparsely populated, with only a few nomadic families residing here alongside their yaks and horses. Due to the high altitude and lack of telephone network, these families live in a remote and disconnected environment.
After our enjoyable and memorable stay in Naiman nuur national park, we will be concluding our time there and embarking on our journey towards Bituut river. Our intention is to dedicate a few days to thoroughly exploring the surrounding area and immersing ourselves in its natural beauty and cultural significance. It is during this time that we will have the opportunity to engage with the local environment, discover hidden gems, and appreciate the unique charm that Bituut river has to offer. Following our enriching exploration, we will then rendezvous with our designated driver as planned, ready to continue our adventure.
On the last day of our horse riding trip, we will be heading back to the nomadic family that graciously hosted us in the heart of the Orkhon Valley.
In the evening, our generous host will prepare a traditional Mongolian dish for us called "Mongolian barbecue made by grilled stone." This unique culinary experience involves grilling meat and vegetables on hot stones, creating a delicious and flavorful meal.
After dinner, it will be time for us to bid farewell to our horse guides, with whom we have spent an incredible nine days. These guides have been our companions throughout our journey, leading us through the breathtaking landscapes of Mongolia and sharing their knowledge and expertise. Saying goodbye to them will be bittersweet, as we have formed a special bond during our time together.
Once we have bid farewell to the breeders, we will make our way back to our 4x4s. Our next destination will be Khogno Khan National Park , which is also known as mini-Gobi. This park boasts a diverse range of landscapes, including a lake, sand dunes that stretch for 80km, trees, and mountains.
We will explore the beautiful sand dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai, walking atop the soft sand and marveling at the stunning views.
Once we have arrived and settled into our ger camp, we will have the opportunity to explore the 18th century Erdene khamba monastery and take a leisurely stroll through the sand dunes. For those who are interested, there is also the option to ride a camel.
Back to Ulaanbaatar. As we drive, we witness the last herds of wild horses crossing the road, leaving us in awe. The distant gers with smoke rising from them mark the end of our time on the steppe.
Upon our arrival in the town, we will check into the hotel and take some time to rest.
We will arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the afternoon. This is an opportunity to do some last souvenir shopping. Your guide will help you find the necessary shops for your desires: souvenirs, cashmere, and small Mongolian objects.
After breakfast, we will accompany you to the international airport of Ulaanbaatar according to the schedule of your flight.
