Shankh Monastery is one of the oldest and most historically significant monasteries in Mongolia, located in Övörkhangai Province near Kharkhorin. Established in 1647, it was one of the main monasteries under the influence of Zanabazar, the first Bogd Gegen of Mongolia, and played a vital role in spreading Tibetan Buddhism.
