Mongolian horses are small, sturdy, and exceptionally resilient. They are about 1.40 to 1.45 meters (4.59 – 4.76 feet) tall at the withers, which is similar in size to a pony by Western standards. They are easy to guide and follow commands well. However, you will need to use the neck rein system for steering and mount up in the Western style. But these horses are strong, can gallop quickly, and will not tire easily.
Our horse treks, part of our 'discover' tours, are designed flexibly. They typically last one day or a few hours, making them perfect for beginners. Our local equestrian guides, always on hand, will ensure everyone feels comfortable, including children. For younger ones, there's the option to ride with a Mongolian horse rider. We usually ride at a leisurely walking pace but for those seeking more adventure, a second, more experienced rider group can try trotting or galloping. Remember, participation in the trek is always optional, and for those who prefer not to ride, walking is a pleasant alternative, with a vehicle always available.
The saddles provided are Russian-type, with a leather cushion on a wooden frame. These saddles are comfortable and suitable for the structure of the Mongolian horse. We also have English saddles for the equestrian tours for the persons who prefer them. Please ask us before the beginning of the stay.
